Pre-Adoption Briefing

Pre-Adoption Briefing

All prospective adopters have to attend a compulsory Pre-Adoption Briefing (PAB) before identifying a child for adoption and applying for a home study or making an application to the Court. Both you and your spouse are required to attend.

PAB is conducted by the accredited agencies appointed by MSF. It is a one-off 2.5 hour session and is available in 3 languages (English, Mandarin and Malay).

The PAB is valid for 3 years. You are required to undergo a Pre-Adoption Briefing if the validity of your PAB has expired.

Learning Objectives

You will:

  1. learn about the adoption process and whether you are eligible to adopt;
  2. understand your rights and responsibilities as an adoptive parent;
  3. understand the needs of an adopted child; and,
  4. find out where you can get support in your parenting journey with the adopted child.

How to Register

With effect from 1 July 2012, you can register online for PAB.

Disclosure Workshop

Prospective adopters are strongly encouraged to attend the Disclosure Workshop on talking with your child about adoption. The workshop will help you understand why adopted children should know about their status and how you can approach the subject.

Please contact TOUCH Community Services Ltd or Fei Yue Community Services for the workshop.

Post Adoption Services

You are encouraged to participate in pre- and post-adoption programmes to help you prepare and transit into your new parenting roles and ensure the continued well-being of the child. You may wish to visit our accredited agencies' website for their available programmes.
