It is important that you inform yourself about the legal requirements, implications on financial matters and child support before getting a divorce. Divorcing couples should seek counselling from Divorce Support Specialist Agencies as well.
Before proceeding with the divorce, see a lawyer for advice and assistance. Discuss all matters including child custody issues and other ancillary matters. The lawyer will then prepare the necessary legal documents on your behalf.
Legal aid and free legal advice are also available for those who meet the eligibility criteria and for victims of domestic abuse.
