    About Us
The Maintenance of Parents Act allows Singapore residents aged 60 years and above - who are unable to provide for themselves - to claim maintenance from their children who are capable of supporting them, but are not doing so. Parents can claim maintenance, in the form of monthly allowances or a lump-sum payment.

    The Commissioner
The Commissioner for the Maintenance of Parents helps parents and children resolve the maintenance issue through conciliation and secure monetary contribution from their children without having to resort to legal action. Parents must strive for conciliation at the Commissioner's Office first before filing an application at the Tribunal.
    The Tribunal
The Tribunal for the Maintenance of Parents allows parents to file for a Maintenance Order against their children who are not supporting them financially, if conciliation does not work out. The Tribunal serves as a court that will grant or dismiss the parent’s claim.
