The Workgroup for the Review of the Maintenance of Parents Act (MPA) will be holding focus groups to discuss ways to enhance the Act. The MPA serves to provide elderly aged 60 years and above – who are unable to maintain themselves adequately – with a legal channel to seek maintenance from their children.

The Workgroup is led by Mr Seah Kian Peng, Member of Parliament (MP) for Marine Parade GRC, and supported by MPs Mr Murali Pillai, Ms Tin Pei Ling, Ms Denise Phua, Ms Joan Pereira, Mr Fahmi Aliman, Ms Ng Ling Ling, Ms Carrie Tan and Mr Melvin Yong.

The Workgroup, in partnership with the Alliance for Action (AfA) to Strengthen Marriages and Family Relationships, will be conducting a series of focus group discussions in January 2022 to seek the public's views on how to enhance the MPA to better meet the needs of our elderly and community.

Your participation and feedback would benefit this review. If you are interested to participate in the focus group discussions, please sign up by 7 January 2022 atps.
