Three confirmed COVID-19 cases detected from proactive testing

During the proactive testing of all preschool and Early Intervention staff, about 10,400 preschool staff so far have tested negative. Three preschool staff have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 infection.
Phased Reopening of Preschools and Early Intervention Centres from 2 June 2020

On 19 May 2020, the Multi-Ministry Taskforce outlined plans to exit the Circuit Breaker measures on 1 June 2020. Preschools and Early Intervention (EI) centres will start to reopen from 2 June 2020, to allow young children to continue learning and to support parents as they return to work. The centres will reopen in phases, emphasising safety and minimising the risk of transmission.
Childcare and Student Care Centres to Suspend General Services Until 1 June 2020; Kindergarten School Holidays to Begin 5 May 2020

On 21 April 2020, the Multi-Ministry Taskforce announced an extension of circuit breaker measures to 1 June 2020. In tandem, the suspension of general services by preschools, student care centres, special student care centres, and early intervention (EI) centres will also be extended to 1 June 2020.
Confirmed COVID-19 cases at Little Gems Preschool

On 4 April 2020, a teaching staff at Little Gems Preschool Pte Ltd tested positive for COVID-19. ECDA will continue to monitor the situation closely.
Preschool operators to provide fee offsets during circuit breaker period

DPM Heng Swee Keat has announced additional support for workers, businesses and households under the Solidarity Budget to help tide Singapore through the one month of COVID-19 major circuit breaker measures. Taking this into consideration, ECDA has required all preschool operators to provide parents offsets for 50% of their nett fees for one month, for Singaporean children not attending preschool during this one-month circuit breaker period.
Preschools and Student care centres to suspend general services

From 8 April 2020 to 4 May 2020, all preschools will suspend general services and remain open only to serve a limited group of parents who are unable to find alternative care arrangements, such as those working in essential services like healthcare.

On 25 March 2020, 13 more centre staff, including teaching and non-teaching staff, tested positive for COVID-19. This is in addition to the Nursery 2 teacher who tested positive on 23 March.

Schools And Kindergartens To Re-Open With Enhanced Precautionary Measures

To further protect the education system, MOE, MSF and ECDA will implement additional precautionary measures over and above MOH’s measures. As some have travelled overseas during the March school holidays, we will issue a 14-day Leave of Absence (LOA) to students and staff of schools, preschools and student care centres who have been out of Singapore on or after 14 March, which is the start of the March school holidays.
