The National Committee on Prevention, Rehabilitation and Recidivism (NCPR) was set up in April 2018 to oversee national efforts to prevent offending, re-offending and enhance rehabilitation of offenders.
The NCPR is co-chaired by Assoc Prof Dr Muhammad Faishal, Minister of State for Home Affairs & National Development, and Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development & Culture, Community and Youth, supported by representatives from the public and people sector. The co-secretariats to the NCPR are the Ministry of Social and Family Development and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Prevention, early intervention, rehabilitation and post support are critical factors to prevent and break cycles of offending.
NCPR collaborates with government agencies, community organisations and volunteers to develop and implement an integrated and coordinated approach to address offending and re-offending issues. We do so by:
