- The Registry of Marriages (ROM) and Registry of Muslim Marriages (ROMM) will return to their original Canning Rise site in 2029, following a four-year redevelopment that commenced in 2025.
- The redeveloped Canning Rise building will have a gross floor area of 3,755m², a 60% increase in space over its original footprint. It will feature larger and enhanced spaces for solemnisation ceremonies integrated with the natural surroundings of Fort Canning Park.
Key Features of the Redeveloped Canning Rise Building
- The building’s iconic pitch-frame façade will be retained, paying homage to the site’s original architectural character.
- The redeveloped building will have enhanced solemnisation spaces:
- A two-storey rear extension, which will increase the capacity of solemnisation slots.
- Spacious indoor solemnisation rooms with warm timber detailing and garden-facing backdrops.
- A rooftop Garden Terrace for outdoor ceremonies.
- Several scenic photo spots are available, including at the Grand Stairs and Grand Lawn. (Refer to Annex B for artist impressions)
Interim Arrangements During Redevelopment
- During the redevelopment period, ROM and ROMM solemnisations are held at Level 3 of the Esplanade Mall, which is also open for Saturday bookings.
- Since opening on 14 April 2025, the interim venue has hosted close to 6,000 solemnisation ceremonies.
- Couples may also book Ficus Room @ Gardens by the Bay for their solemnisation ceremonies.
Golden Jubilee Wedding Celebrations
- The announcement was made by Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr Masagos Zulkifli at the Golden Jubilee Wedding Celebrations 2026.
- Jointly organised by the Families for Life (FFL) Council, ROM and ROMM, it is an annual event that honours couples celebrating 50 years or more of marriage.
- The event, attended by Guest-of-Honour President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, was held on 8 February 2026 at Fairmont Singapore and brought together over 1,000 guests.
- 184 couples were presented with a Golden Jubilee Commemorative Package, comprising a certificate, a gold medallion, a congratulatory note, and a photo memento.
- The couples also renewed their matrimonial vows, made five or more decades ago, in the presence of family and friends.

Supporting Strong and Lasting Marriages
- The ‘I Still Do’ campaign is an annual FFL initiative celebrating love, commitment, and marriage.
- Running from 14 February to 15 March, the campaign features curated couple-centric activities and promotions, such as a date night co-organised with the Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC).
- On 28 February 2026 from 5.00 to 8.00 pm, about 100 couples will take part in the “I Still Do” Sunset by the Beach event at Siloso Beach, Sentosa.

- Newlyweds are encouraged to participate in marriage preparation and enrichment programmes. For example, the Journey with You (JoY) initiative pairs newlyweds with trained marriage mentors for support in their first year of marriage. Similarly, through the Bersamamu programme, Kadi and Naib Kadi journey with newlywed Muslim couples in their first two years of married life.
- Married couples can also access a range of online programmes, resources, and community-based activities, designed to strengthen relationships including the Our Marriage Journey Quiz and FFL's Mini Marriage PREP tips on communication, conflict resolution, and commitment.
