Statistic on Gambling and Problem Gambling

Topic(s): Problem Gambling Assistance

MSF works closely with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), Gambling Regulatory Authority and other partners to minimise the social impact of problem gambling through a multi-pronged approach:

Social safeguards include exclusions and visit limits. Exclusions ban individuals from one or more of the following gambling activities in Singapore, while visit limits limit the number of visits an individual can make to the casinos in Singapore each month. As of 31 December 2023, there are 356,659 active exclusion orders, with the largest group consisting of individuals who have applied for casino self-exclusions (184,054).

More statistics on exclusions, visit limits and help services can be found here.

  • Identify perceptions and attitudes towards gambling.

The findings aim to inform government policies and improve support for those facing gambling-related issues.

The most recent Survey on Participation in Gambling Activities Among Singapore Residents 2020 found:

  • 44% of Singapore residents aged 18 and above reported that they had participated in at least one form of gambling activity; and
  • The overall PPG rate was around 1.2%.
