MSF Re-Appoints Singapore Representative for Women’s Rights to the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC)
The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) has re-appointed Ms Junie Foo as the Singapore Representative for Women’s Rights on the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC). Ms Foo’s term of appointment will be for three years with effect from 7 October 2026.
2 Ms Foo brings extensive leadership experience in both the private and social service sectors. She previously served as President of the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO) and is deeply committed to championing women’s development and leadership in Singapore.
3 Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli said: “Ms Foo has made valuable contributions to advancing women’s development in ASEAN. As Singapore prepares to assume the ASEAN and ACWC Chairmanship in 2027, her re-appointment will provide continuity and strengthen Singapore’s engagement with the region. We will continue working towards a more inclusive ASEAN, where women and children have equal opportunities to achieve their aspirations, and every individual can contribute to society.”
4 Ms Foo said: “I am honoured to be re-appointed as Singapore's Representative for Women's Rights on the ACWC. ASEAN has made significant progress on advancing the well-being of women and girls across the region, and I look forward to building on this momentum. As ACWC develops its next phase of work, I remain committed to working with fellow ACWC representatives to build a more inclusive and resilient ASEAN where all women and girls can thrive.”
5 Established in 2010, the ACWC serves as ASEAN's intergovernmental body for promoting and protecting the rights of women and children. The Commission works with ASEAN Member States to advance regional cooperation, and address issues affecting the well-being and protection of women and children across the region. Through its work, the ACWC supports ASEAN's vision of a more inclusive, resilient and people-centred community.
