Perspectives on Society and Family Survey 2025

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) is conducting a survey to better understand public perceptions on topics relating to family and society in Singapore. 

MSF has appointed Media Research Consultants Pte Ltd (MRC) to carry out the survey. Singapore residents who have been selected for this survey will receive a mailed notification letter from MSF. An MRC interviewer will visit your home or call you to arrange a face-to-face interview from October 2025 to January 2026.  

Participation in the study is voluntary. Nonetheless, your views will provide valuable insights to us and will help inform government policymaking.  All information provided will be kept strictly confidential. A token of appreciation is available upon completion of the survey. 

FAQs

    Q: How do I know this survey/the interviewer is legitimate? 

    A: This survey is commissioned by MSF. Trained interviewers from Media Research Consultants Pte Ltd (MRC) will conduct the face-to-face interview. You will be able to identify the interviewer by an authorisation letter issued by MSF and an identity pass issued by MRC. You can also verify the interviewer’s identity by calling survey vendor, MRC (Mr Tan Kee Seng, 9680 5966, Mon – Fri, 9am to 6pm). Our surveyors will never ask for payment or bank details.

     

    Q: Why was I selected? 

    A: Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 15 and above were randomly selected from the government administrative database to ensure we get a representative sample of the population. Your participation helps us gather accurate data that represents our society's diverse perspectives. 

    Q: What topics does the survey cover? 

    A: The survey covers a wide range of topics relating to family and society, such as marriage and parenthood aspirations, family relationships, gender equality, social mobility, and the social compact. 

     

    Q: How long will the survey take? 

    A: The survey typically takes about 30-45 minutes to complete. Our interviewers are trained to conduct the interview efficiently while ensuring you have enough time to provide thoughtful responses.

    Q: How will my personal information be protected? 

    A: Information collected for this study will be kept strictly confidential and stored under secured conditions. 

    Your personal information, such as name, contact number and address, will be separated from your answers to the questionnaire and de-identified (i.e., only identified with a serial number). Your responses to the questionnaire will be linked only to this serial number. The data collected from you and other respondents will be aggregated during analysis (i.e., summarised and presented at the overall level).

    The contact information that MSF has shared with MRC for the purposes of survey fieldwork are protected; MRC is legally only allowed to use the contact information for the purposes of this survey and no other. Upon completion of the survey fieldwork, MRC will destroy its copy of all individuals’ contact information. 

     

    Q: Will my responses be shared with other organisations? 

    A: The data will be stored such that your responses to the questionnaire cannot be linked back to you. The aggregated research findings (without personal information) may be shared with other government agencies for policy-making purposes. 

    Q: Do I have to participate in this survey? 

    A: While participation is voluntary, your input is valuable and will help the Ministry of Social and Family Development to better understand sentiments on family and social issues. The knowledge gained may benefit the public in the future, through its impact on social or public policies.

     

    Q: Can someone else in my household complete the survey instead?

    A: As the selection of respondents is done at an individual level, we are unable to allow household members to replace your participation. 

     

    Q: Are the questions in English only, or are there other language options?

    A: The survey can be completed in English, Chinese, Malay, or Tamil. For those who require assistance with reading/writing, the interviewer will be present to facilitate. When making the appointment, please let MRC know if you prefer to do the survey in a language other than English, and they will arrange a suitable interviewer accordingly. 

     

    Q: Can I complete the survey at another time if I'm busy? 

    A: Yes, our interviewers can schedule a return visit at a more convenient time. You can contact our survey vendor, MRC (Mr Tan Kee Seng, 9680 5966, Mon – Fri, 9am to 6pm), to schedule an appointment.

    Q: I have misplaced my invitation letter. Can I still participate in the survey? 

    A: Yes, you can still participate in the survey. An interviewer from MRC will reach out to you. You can also contact our survey vendor, MRC (Mr Tan Kee Seng, 9680 5966, Mon – Fri, 9am to 6pm) if you have further queries. 



    Voice of Customer Quantitative Study 2025

    The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) is conducting a survey to better understand your experience with our services. 

    MSF has appointed ML Research Consultants Pte Ltd (ML Research) to conduct the survey on MSF’s behalf from 26 Nov 2025 to 30 January 2026. Singapore residents who have been selected for this survey will receive a physical notification letter or an SMS from MSF.

    An ML Research interviewer may call you to conduct the survey, or MSF may email you an electronic link to complete the survey. The interviewer will never ask for payment or bank details. 

    Participation in survey is voluntary. At the same time, your feedback will provide valuable insight to us in improving our service quality. All information provided will be kept strictly confidential. A token of appreciation is available upon completion of the survey.

    Q: How do I know this survey or the interviewer is legitimate?

    A: MSF has appointed ML Research Consultants Pte Ltd (“ML Research”), to conduct the survey on MSF’s behalf.

    To verify this survey is legitimate:

    Call MSF at 1800 111 2222 (Mon-Fri 8:30am-6pm; Sat 8:30am-1pm. Airtime charges apply for mobile calls to 1800 service lines) to confirm ML Research is conducting this survey and that you were selected. You should have received notification from MSF by letter or SMS. Our contact centre will verify the authenticity of this survey by validating details that is specific to what is published on the notification letter or SMS.

    Our interviewers will NEVER:

    • Ask for NRIC number, bank details, credit card information, or passwords
    • Request any form of payment
    • Demand immediate responses or threaten consequences
    • Refuse to provide their full name and company details

    What we DO ask about:

    • Your experience with MSF services
    • Basic demographics (age range, marital status) for analysis purposes

    You have the right to:

    • Pause the survey anytime to verify details
    • Request confirmation before participating

    Q: What is the purpose of the survey?

    A: The survey aims to better understand MSF customers’ service experience and satisfaction with MSF’s services, and to provide MSF with feedback on what to improve our services.

     

    Q: How did ML Research get my personal information/details?

    A: Survey respondents are randomly selected from MSF’s customer profiles and the contact information are shared with ML Research only for the purpose of the survey.

    ML will only use this contact information for the purposes of this survey. Upon completion of the survey fieldwork, ML Research will destroy its copy of all individuals’ contact information. 

     

    Q: How was my consent obtained for this survey? 

    A: As indicated in the notification letter/SMS you would have received, participation in the survey is on a voluntary basis. Your consent will be sought before the start of the survey. Please be assured that your information/details and responses to the survey will be kept strictly confidential and used only for the purpose of understanding how MSF can improve its services.

    If you do not wish to participate in the survey, you may either:  

    • let the phone interviewers know accordingly when they call, or
    • not click on the survey link.

    Q: Do I have to participate in the survey?

    A: Participation in the survey is voluntary. Your views are very important to us and your feedback will help MSF improve on our services.

    A: As a token of appreciation for your time, upon completion of the survey, we will also be presenting you with a $10 voucher. Please note that this is a token of appreciation for your time, and not considered payment for your participation in the study.

     

    Q: Why am I not contacted to participate in the survey?

    Q: How long is the survey?

    A: The survey is estimated to take about 15 mins, but this may vary based on the participants and their speed of responses.  

     

    Q: Will the survey be available in multiple languages?

    A: The online survey will be in English. However, for the phone survey, you may call our vendor, ML Research Pte Ltd, if you require for the survey to be carried out in Chinese, Malay or Tamil.

     

    Q: Is there any support available if I were to encounter difficulty doing it online? 

    A: Yes, you can call our vendor, ML Research, at 6223 3411 if you need assistance with the online survey.

     

    Q: When is the survey closing?

    A: The survey will close on 30 Jan 2026 or once we have received the intended number of responses, whichever is earlier.

     

    Q: Will there be any follow-up communications after completing the survey?

    A: No, there won't be.
