National Family Festival 2025 Launches with Real Stories and Strengthened Community Support

Type: Announcements, Press Releases, All

Topic(s): Children & Families, All

The National Family Festival (NFF) 2025 was officially launched today at the Family Carnival held at Singapore Expo, bringing together families, corporate partners, and community groups in a vibrant showcase of what it means to be family in Singapore. The festival is led by the Families for Life (FFL) Council, and the launch was officiated by Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr Masagos Zulkifli.

2          As a signature event of SG60, the festival celebrates the central role of families in shaping Singapore’s development over the past six decades. At the same time, it highlights how collective efforts across whole-of-society have helped build strong and thriving families.

3          This being the largest NFF since its inception three years ago and with the most number of partners to date, NFF 2025 reflects our continued commitment and national effort to build a Singapore with family at the heart of it – at home, at work and in the community.

Deepening Community and Corporate Partnerships

4          NFF 2025 marks the complete rollout of the FFL @ Community initiative, which is a major milestone for the FFL movement. Started as a pilot in Nee Soon and Choa Chu Kang in 2021, FFL @ Community has now expanded to all 24 towns in Singapore as of May 2025 . Residents will enjoy more opportunities for family bonding near where they live, and learn how to strengthen family relationships through programmes organised by FFL and its partners. Families can also seek advice and support one another through local meetups and peer support groups.

5          This year’s festival also sees more community and corporate partners stepping forward to champion family-friendly practices and initiatives. Over 250 organisations have joined NFF 2025, with close to 50 new partners on board compared to 2024. Of note, CapitaLand Investment strengthened its partnership with FFL and MSF through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed at the festival launch. CapitaLand Investment will be a key venue partner for FFL events, organise family-centric initiatives for employees and workspace tenants, and promote family-friendly practices across its commercial management network.

“Real Families Real Stories”: A Ground-Up Celebration of Family Life

6          A new feature of NFF 2025 is the “Real Families, Real Stories” showcase, featuring personal stories from Singaporeans about the ups and downs of family life – from childhood joys and tales of romance, to the complexities of growing old with loved ones. Launched in February, the two-year campaign encourages families to forge deeper connections through conversations and reflections. Since its launch, we have received over 500 public submissions spotlighting the rich tapestry of experiences that make each family special. These stories can be read at the NFF Family Carnival’s interactive exhibition.

Family-Friendly Activities Across the Island

7          Throughout the month, families can take part in an extensive range of activities islandwide, co-created with community and corporate partners. Highlights include:

  • FunFam SportFest, organised by Sport Singapore’s Active Parents movement, which empowers families to play, grow and stay active together. Through interactive activities at the Family Carnival, families can discover new ways of bonding through sports while developing positive, lifelong habits focused on movement and wellness.
  • PA Family PLAYGround by the People’s Association spans across five districts. Embracing SG60 values of care, connect and contribute, PA Family PLAYGround offers opportunities for families to build stronger bonds, connect across generations and cultures, and give back through acts of kindness and volunteerism.
  • Gardens by the Bay’s Children’s Festival, its signature school holiday programme returns for its 11th edition. Families can look forward to Asia Pacific’s first Stitch-themed outdoor festival, featuring large-scale installations, play areas and more activities inspired by Disney’s Lilo & Stitch. Admission is free.
  • Families for Life Picnic and Movie Screening Under the Stars at Gardens by the Bay, where families come together to enjoy an evening of fun, food and family bonding at the new PropNex Family Zone in Gardens by the Bay.

Making Family Time Affordable for Larger Families

8          A yearly NFF special that families look forward to is the wide range of special deals to encourage families to spend more time together. This year sees an expanded partnership with more merchants offering family-friendly promotions across diverse categories including dining, lifestyle, attractions, and edutainment experiences. In support of the Large Families Scheme, FFL has also curated deals specifically for families with more children. The list of family-friendly deals can be found at go.gov.sg/familyfestsg-2025-deals.

Families at the Core of Singapore’s Strength

9          Mr Ishak Ismail, Chairman of the Families for Life Council, said, "As Singapore celebrates SG60, the National Family Festival reminds us that the strength of our nation begins at home. This year’s festival shines a light on the everyday experiences of families and how the wider community is stepping up to support them. Whether through family-friendly workplaces, community events, or honest conversations, we are proud to lead a movement that is making Singapore truly made for families, in both spirit and action."

10          Supported by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), NFF 2025 underscores a longstanding, shared commitment to nurturing strong and resilient families.

11          Co-organised with partners including the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), National Youth Council, People’s Association, Prime Minister’s Office Strategy Group and Sport Singapore, these collaborations are testament to the collective belief that families are the foundation of a cohesive and inclusive society.
