Spark Connections 2017 brings new and more exciting trendy treats to singles

MSF to study and consider recommendations made by Enabling Masterplan Steering Committee

$130 million disbursed under ComCare in FY2015

The Government’s ComCare schemes disbursed $130 million to about 87,000 beneficiaries in FY2015. This was 10% higher than the previous year. The Ministry of Social and Family Development released these figures today (9 Dec) in its ComCare Annual Report and Trends Report.
Third Fostering Agency to be appointed in 2017 to support shift towards family-based care

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) will appoint a third fostering agency in 2017 to better provide support for foster parents and facilitate the care of foster children. This is in line with MSF’s vision for vulnerable children to be placed in family-based care such as foster care.

Preschoolers contribute over 500,000 hours to serve the community

Some 20,000 children from over 300 pre-schools have contributed over 500,000 hours in the past 6 months to plan and participate in 316 community service projects for this year’s President’s Challenge Project, “Start Small Dream Big”. This is a five-fold increase in hours spent by children, compared to the inaugural run of the initiative last year.
Singapore to host week-long series of ASEAN meetings on women's and children's issues

The Ministry of Social and Family Development will host the 13th Meeting of the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), the 15th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Women (ACW) and the 8th Meeting of the ACW Plus 3 which involves China, Japan and the Republic of Korea in the week of 3 to 7 October 2016. The Ministry and the Tsao Foundation will jointly organize a Forum on “Women’s Financial Security in Old Age” on 7 October 2016.
New manpower plan unveiled to create more rewarding careers for early childhood educators

A new Early Childhood Manpower Plan was announced today at the Early Childhood Conference 2016. It is part of the national SkillsFuture movement and is a collaborative effort by ECDA, WDA, as well as key sector partners represented on the Early Childhood Sectoral Tripartite Committee.
