$116 million disbursed under ComCare in 2014

About $116 million in ComCare assistance was provided in Financial Year 2014 (FY14) from 1 Apr 2014 to 31 Mar 2015. According to the latest ComCare Annual Report published by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), this is an increase of more than 10% in ComCare assistance disbursed compared to $102 million in the previous FY.
Public expresses support for amendments to the draft Women's Charter

MSF received about 260 instances of feedback, the majority of which expressed support for the amendments to the Women’s Charter (Amendment) Bill 2016. The public consultation was conducted between 19 October and 8 November 2015. Besides the public, groups such as the Families for Life Council, the Singapore Council of Women's Organisations, the Association of Women for Action and Research and the Law Society of Singapore also shared their views on the key amendments to the Bill.

Launch of the National Social Work Competency Framework

The National Social Work Competency Framework (NSWCF) was launched today by Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr Tan Chuan-Jin. The NSWCF will guide the development of social workers across different settings, such as healthcare and community-based social service organisations. The NSWCF will serve as a career guide for more than 1,600 social workers in Singapore.

On 6 November 2015, a member of the public visited our SSO@Toa Payoh to apply for financial assistance. Our officer was assaulted when she was interviewing him to understand his financial situation better. MSF has reported to the Police about the assault.

Up to 16,500 Children to Benefit from more Affordable and Better Quality Child Care from 2016

The new Partner Operator scheme supports mid-sized and smaller child care operators in keeping fees affordable, improving quality of their programmes and developing their early childhood professionals. The 23 Partner Operators run 169 existing child care centres which offer a total of 16,500 places.

MSF revokes status of Approved Persons for Sweetlands Childcare Centres

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) has served notice to revoke the status of Approved Person (AP) of all the 11 Sweetlands Childcare centres yesterday. We will revoke the AP status of Mdm Chan Chew Shia and Mr Ho Boon Hong on 21 October 2015.

Themed “Strengthening Malay/Muslim Families: Reframing Narratives, Anchoring Resilience”, the Seminar was organised by the Ministry of Social and Family Development in collaboration with the Registry of Muslim Marriages, Syariah Court and Yayasan MENDAKI.
