The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) paid tribute to its volunteers at an award ceremony today. The MSF Volunteer Awards Ceremony honoured volunteers who have contributed significantly to the community and touched countless lives through their selfless efforts to reach out to the vulnerable in our society.  The ceremony, attended by more than 250 guests, was hosted by Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Social and Family Development.

A total of seven recipients of the Outstanding Volunteer Award, 17 Friends of MSF, and 107 Long-Service Volunteers were recognised.

The seven Outstanding Volunteer Award winners have made immense contributions in their respective areas of involvement and demonstrated extraordinary passion and dedication in serving the community. They include Professor David Chan, Mdm Chua Foo Yong, Mr Koh Choon Hui, Mr Richard R Magnus, Dr George Soh, Mr Tan Kian Hoon and Dr Aline Wong. (Please see Annexes  A and D for more details)

Among the Long-Service Volunteers were Mr Surjan Singh and Mr Rodney Toh, who have served as Volunteer Probation Officers over the past 40 years.

Paying tribute to all the recipients who have made a difference in the lives of others, Minister Chan said, “Through your kindness, commitment, generosity and love, and through your selfless dedication to the causes that you are passionate about, you have made Singapore a better place for those less fortunate.”
