1. The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) has introduced a new Preschool Search feature on LifeSG to provide convenience and support to parents searching for available preschools. This marks a milestone in ECDA’s commitment to leverage technology to enhance parents’ journey in searching for preschools and applying for preschool subsidies. Minister of State for Social and Family Development Sun Xueling announced these initiatives at the ‘Start Small Dream Big’ (SSDB) Launch and 10th Anniversary Celebration event today.
New Preschool Search on LifeSG
2. The new Preschool Search offers the following benefits for parents:
a. Faster and easier search for preschools on LifeSG. The Preschool Search feature on LifeSG provides a more streamlined and seamless experience for parents, who are already using the platform for birth registration and Baby Bonus application. By integrating with Singpass MyInfo, parents are offered the convenience of pre-filled information and customised preschool search results, facilitating a faster and easier search for preschools.
b. Making informed decisions and greater clarity on enrolment matters. Parents can now easily locate preschools with available vacancies within a default radius of 2km, near their homes, workplaces, or caregiver’s homes. With easier access to preschool vacancy information, parents can make informed decisions based on their requirements. Parents will now have better clarity of the enrolment process as they can contact the preschools directly.
3. Parents can access the new Preschool Search via the LifeSG app or by visiting https://www.life.gov.sg/services/preschool-search. More details on the Preschool Search are in Annex A.
Upcoming Preschool Subsidy Application on LifeSG
4. ECDA will be introducing a Preschool Subsidy Application feature on LifeSG. This will be piloted with parents from selected preschools from mid-2024 and rolled out progressively to parents in all preschools from end-2024. By streamlining the Preschool Subsidy Application process, parents can directly apply to ECDA, instead of through the preschools. Parents will also be informed of the Preschool Subsidy Application status through LifeSG.
5. Through this new initiative, ECDA seeks to enhance the service experience for both parents and preschools. More details on the envisioned Subsidy Application service are in Annex B.
