Baby Bonus Scheme

The Baby Bonus Scheme is designed to help families defray the costs of raising a child. The Scheme includes a Cash Gift and Child Development Account (CDA) benefits.  Eligible Singaporean children born from 14 Feb 2023 will receive enhanced benefits. The Cash Gift is intended to support parents’ out-of-pocket caregiving costs.  Parents will receive the Cash Gift every 6 months till the child turns six-and-a-half years.

The enhanced Baby Bonus benefits was announced on 14 Feb 2023.  For eligible Singaporean children born from 14 Feb 2023 until the date the changes are implemented in 2024, the eligible children will continue to enjoy the current benefits.  The enhancements to the Cash Gift will be disbursed from early 2024.  

Child Development Account

The CDA is a special savings account for Singaporean children to help build up the savings that can be spent on approved uses at Baby Bonus Approved Institutions. When a CDA is opened, the child will receive CDA benefits comprising (a) the CDA First Step Grant which will be automatically credited after CDA opening and (b) dollar-for-dollar Government co-matching for each dollar that parents deposit in the CDA, up to the co-matching caps shown below. The CDA is opened until the year of the year that the child turns 12 years old.

The enhanced Baby Bonus benefits was announced on 14 Feb 2023 and the enhancements to the CDA First Step Grant and CDA co-matching cap will be implemented from early 2024.  Eligible Singaporean children born from 14 Feb 2023 will continue to enjoy the current benefits.  Parents will be notified when they can make the additional deposits into their child’s CDA to enjoy the enhanced Government co-matching. 
 
Children of unwed parents who are born, or have an estimated delivery date, on or after 1 September 2016 can receive CDA benefits.
