I am pleased to join all of you today at the International Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) & Medicine Symposium to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). In line with IWD’s ethos, we welcome the efforts of institutions and organisations in inspiring more women to continue and excel in their careers, particularly in fields such as STEM and medicine.
Singapore is strongly committed to the advancement of all women and girls and reaffirms our support for the full, effective, and accelerated implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. We also reaffirm our commitment to CEDAW, and our support for CSW in advancing efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 51.
Ms Sun Xueling, Minister of State for Social and Family Development and Home Affairs, will deliver Singapore’s National Statement during her attendance at the 67th session of the United Nations (UN) Commission on the Status of Women1 (CSW) from 7 to 10 March 2023, which includes a special commemoration of International Women’s Day on 8 March. She is accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Social and Family Development.

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) announced five new members to the Council for Board Diversity (CBD) in 2023. The CBD was established by MSF to promote a sustained increase in the number of women on boards of listed companies, statutory boards, and Institutions of a Public Character (IPCs) in Singapore.
