Updates on Haze Management for Child Care Centres and Kindergartens for 28 September 2015 (Monday)

In view of the improvement in the haze situation, all lessons and programmes in child care centres and kindergartens will resume on 28 September 2015 (Monday). Centres should continue to adjust their programmes in accordance to the guidelines issued for different PSI levels. ECDA will continue to monitor the haze situation and update on relevant haze management measures needed.
More Than $100,000 Raised for President's Challenge Project 'Start Small Dream Big'

Over 8,000 pre-school children from more than 150 centres contributed over 100,000 hours to plan and participate in community service projects for this year’s President’s Challenge Project “Start Small Dream Big”. Apart from many in-kind donations, they also raised more than $100,000 in cash for President’s Challenge beneficiaries and other community organisations.

203 More Pre-Schools Awarded SPARK Certification

With 203 more pre-schools receiving their Singapore Pre-school Accreditation Framework (SPARK) certificates today, one in four pre-schools island-wide are now SPARK-certified. This will provide parents greater assurance of good quality pre-schools across Singapore, offering holistic early childhood programmes, certified by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

In view of the deterioration of the haze situation, all lessons and programmes in child care centres and kindergartens will be scaled down. Parents of pre-school children may wish to take precautionary measures by keeping your child at home on 25 September 2015 (Friday). Nevertheless, all child care centres and kindergartens will remain open to provide custodial care for parents who do not have alternative care arrangements.

More Banking Choices and Greater Convenience for Parents Under Changes to Baby Bonus Scheme

Parents will soon have more banking choices for their young children’s Baby Bonus Child Development Accounts (CDA). The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) has appointed DBS Bank (DBS) and United Overseas Bank (UOB) as new Managing Agents for CDAs. These banks will join existing CDA bank Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited (OCBC) to provide CDA services from 13 July 2015.
New large child care centres to increase child care places in high demand areas

Government will build five large child care centres to help parents by providing accessible, affordable and quality child care services. ECDA-appointed Anchor Operators (AOPs) will manage these centres. The first centre will be completed by mid-2016.
