MSF steps up efforts to encourage couples to attend Marriage Preparation Programmes

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) will be rolling out a new marriage preparation programme called Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Programme (PREP) from May 2015. This twelve-hour programme is a more comprehensive version of the free two-hour “Introduction to PREP” which had been attended by more than 400 couples at the Registry of Marriages since beginning of this year.
Dedicated Transport Services for Persons with Disabilities

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), together with the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), have awarded grants to three operators to provide dedicated transport services to persons with disabilities. The three operators are Handicaps Welfare Association (HWA), EK Ang Trading and Transport Pte Ltd and Silveray Pte Ltd.

MSF pilots home-based care services for Persons with Disabilities

The Ministry of Social and Family Development has started a two-year pilot on Home-Based Care Services for persons with disabilities. Such services would enable persons with disabilities to live in their own home, with family, friends and neighbours in the community. The services also allow for caregivers to have more rest time.
Social Entrepreneurship in ASEAN

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will introduce new measures to help prospective Singaporean-foreigner couples better plan for the future, by providing greater clarity, prior to marriage, on whether the foreign spouse can qualify for long term stay in Singapore, based on the circumstances of the couple at the time of application.
New Government Representative for Women's Rights on ASEAN Commission

The Ministry of Social and Family Development has appointed Mrs Laura Hwang Cheng Lin as the new Singapore Government Representative for women’s rights on the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC). Her term of appointment will be for three years with effect from Oct 2014.
