Grant Enhanced to Enable Neighbourhood Malls to Create Family Friendly Environment

From 1 October 2014, the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) will enhance the FamilyMatters@Business Grant to give neighbourhood shopping malls a boost in creating a family-friendly environment for their customers. This was announced today by Ms Low Yen Ling, Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development, at a visit to Compass Point Shopping Centre.
More banking choices, greater convenience

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) has appointed three banks as managing agents (MAs) for Child Development Accounts (CDAs) under the Baby Bonus Scheme. They are DBS Bank Limited (DBS), United Overseas Bank (UOB) and Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited (OCBC). OCBC is an existing MA, while DBS and UOB are newly appointed MAs which will start providing CDA services from the second quarter of 2015.
72,000 benefit from ComCare Assistance and moves made to improve delivery in 2013

More than $102 mil in ComCare assistance was provided to 72,000 needy Singaporeans and their families in Financial Year 2013 (FY13), according to the latest ComCare Annual Report by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF). Major efforts were also made to improve the delivery of assistance.

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) announced that it will waive its $50 application fee for registration of the Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) for two years from 1 September 2014 for Singaporeans. The Government has awarded the tender to develop the Social Service Net (SSNet) - a national case management system for the social service sector. SSNet will enable service providers to better coordinate the delivery of social assistance and social services to individuals and families in need.
