Addendum to the President's Address

Singapore’s social services will need to evolve in the coming years to meet the challenges of ageing demographics, changing family structures and rising public expectations. To provide greater support and assurance for Singaporeans and their families, MSF will focus on building integrated social service system, developing new services for the future and expanding capacity and deepening capability in the sector.

While most Singaporeans enjoy more opportunities to build better lives for themselves and their families, many feel more anxieties and uncertainties about the future. To address their worries and give all Singaporeans greater peace of mind, the government will strengthen our social safety nets. Our philosophy is upstream prevention, providing more for those with less and sharing the risks of life’s uncertainties so that no one has to deal with his problems alone. Underlying this is the spirit of a caring society, where we care for one another and share the fruits of progress with all.
Diversity Action Committee to take forward 10 recommendations by Diversity Task Force regarding women on boards

The Diversity Task Force regarding Women on Boards (DTF) launched its report, “Gender Diversity on Boards: A Business Imperative”. Among the ten recommendations detailed in the report, the DTF proposes the establishment of a Diversity Action Committee (DAC) to facilitate the implementation of the recommendations.

Women Under-Represented on Boards of SGX-Listed Companies

Women continue to be under-represented on boards of SGX-listed companies. The study by the Diversity Task Force regarding women on boards (DTF) reveals that only 8.3% of director positions (i.e. directorships) are held by women.
$100,000 Award to Improve Lives of Persons with Disabilities

1,800 more households to benefit from Comcare Short-to-Medium Term Assistance

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) will reach out to more families who require short- to medium- term assistance. ComCare provides assistance to households who require temporary help because their members are either looking for work, temporarily unable to work due to illness and care giving duties, or earning insufficient incomes to provide for their families.
