The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) has appointed a 6-member expert panel to help strengthen capabilities and expertise in the Family Life Education (FLE) sector. This is part of the Ministry’s efforts under FamilyMatters! to enhance the standards of the FLE sector so as to provide more quality family life programmes and resources to families across the different life stages.

Minister for Social and Family Development Mr Chan Chun Sing said, “With so many competing priorities, it is always important not to lose sight of what is truly important to each of us – our family. Today, we have a pool of family life educators who are passionate about empowering and strengthening families and to do so, they want to continually build their expertise in family life education. This is why the first thing our expert panel will be doing is to develop a basic foundational curriculum for Family Life Education. In this way, family life educators can receive relevant training and look forward to upgrading their skills and knowledge systematically.”

MSF is also inviting parents to share their parenting challenges on its Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/msfsingapore) or Essential Parenting Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/EssentialParenting.sg). Three of the local FLE experts, namely, Mr Arthur Ling, Mrs V Sarojini and Ms Fazlinda Faroo will address the most common and pressing parenting concerns posted from 8 to 20 September 2013.
