1,800 more households to benefit from Comcare Short-to-Medium Term Assistance

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) will reach out to more families who require short- to medium- term assistance. ComCare provides assistance to households who require temporary help because their members are either looking for work, temporarily unable to work due to illness and care giving duties, or earning insufficient incomes to provide for their families.
Higher Fee Assistance for Kindergarten Education

Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing outlined enhancements to the Kindergarten Fee Assistance Scheme (KiFAS) today. The changes will make Kindergarten education more affordable for low and middle income families, and help them provide a strong start for their children.

Allegations of Inappropriate Punishments at PERTAPIS Children's Home (PCH)

MSF has received information that some children residing in the PERTAPIS Children’s Home (PCH) may have been inappropriately punished physically by some staff of PCH. After reviewing the information, MSF has filed a report with the Singapore Police Force. The Police have commenced investigations on the matter.

The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) appointed three new Pre-School Anchor Operators today. Metropolitan YMCA’s MY World Preschool, Kinderland Consortiums-Skool4Kidz, and EtonHouse International’s E-Bridge Pre-school will join PAP Community Foundation and NTUC First Campus’ My First Skool as Anchor Operators for the early childhood sector.
New Concession Schemes for Workfare Beneficiaries and Persons with Disabilities from 6 July 2014

The Government will introduce and fund two new concession schemes for Lower-Wage Workers (LWWs) and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to help fares remain affordable for these two groups, at an expected cost of $50 million a year. The new concession schemes will start on 6 July 2014.
