I am pleased to join all of you today at the International Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) & Medicine Symposium to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). In line with IWD’s ethos, we welcome the efforts of institutions and organisations in inspiring more women to continue and excel in their careers, particularly in fields such as STEM and medicine.
Singapore is strongly committed to the advancement of all women and girls and reaffirms our support for the full, effective, and accelerated implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. We also reaffirm our commitment to CEDAW, and our support for CSW in advancing efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 51.

Good evening everyone, I am happy to be here with you today. I understand that many of you are current or previous clients of our shelters. Some of you are also our corporate donors and I am very grateful that we have all come together tonight to celebrate how we have come so far together.
A very good morning to everyone. Firstly, my great thanks to Minister Hassan for sharing Maldives’ perspectives on what works for her country, and what are the collective challenges that women and families face. I also share Minister Mariam’s, Qatar Minister for Social Development and Family, earlier words that strong families lead to strong societies.
