​Number of Residents in Welfare Homes for Destitute Persons and Sheltered Homes by Gender 

The MSF Youth Homes (i.e. Singapore Boys’ Home and Singapore Girls’ Home) function as a Place of Detention and a Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre for youths who are in conflict with the law, as well as a Place of Safety for youths who are beyond parental control or in need of care and protection.

​Singapore's out-of-home care sector provides care for vulnerable children and young persons who have been abandoned, neglected, ill-treated by their parents or guardians. These children and young persons would then be placed in foster care or residential care. 

​Probation is a community-based rehabilitation programme that aims to bring about positive changes in offenders through targeted interventions and working with the families.

​Volunteers with the Rehabilitation and Protection Group (RPG) of MSF work closely with youth offenders and young children who have been abused and neglected by their families. They act as befrienders and mentors, giving guidance and support to their charges.

MSF Youth Homes cater to juveniles who are at risk, or have gotten into trouble with the law, but whose behaviour and circumstances render community-based options inappropriate or unsuitable.
