Survey On Gambling Participation Among Singapore Residents 2014

The fourth survey on participation in gambling activities among Singapore Residents, following similar studies conducted in 2005, 2008 and 2011

Description/Excerpt:

The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) has conducted the fourth survey on participation in gambling activities among Singapore Residents, following similar studies conducted in 2005, 2008 and 2011. The 2014 NCPG survey indicates that Singapore’s gambling participation rates remained stable, while the probable pathological and problem gambling rates of Singapore Residents saw an overall decrease. However, the gambling behaviour of probable pathological gamblers continues to be a cause for concern. Probable pathological gamblers were gambling more frequently, and were also starting to gamble regularly from a young age. This group also exhibited poor self-control in terms of gambling for a longer period of time, with more money and more frequently than they had planned to, especially for those who participated in online gambling, table games and jackpot machines.
