Violence: Applications of Personal Protection Order (PPO)/Expedited Order (EO)/Domestic Exclusion Order (DEO)

Under the Women's Charter, a Personal Protection Order (PPO) is a Court order restraining a person from committing family violence against a family member (spouse, ex-spouse, child, parent, parent-in-law, sibling, a relative or an incapacitated person regarded as family member by the Court). When an application is made to the Court, the Court may make the order when it is satisfied that family violence has been or is likely to be committed and that a protection order is necessary.
