Family Services: Statistics on Child & Infant Care Centres

Child Care Centres provide full day and half-day care programmes to children below the age of 7 years. In addition to providing working parents with reliable care services, child care centres have programmes aimed at educating and developing pre-school children through effective early childhood education programmes in a safe and conducive environment.

The Ministry licenses child care centres which meet acceptable standards in the Child Care Centres Act (Cap.37A) and Regulations.

Statistics on child & infant care centres and services (2006 - 2011) include:

  • total number of centres
  • centre capacity
  • total enrolment
  • average programme fees
  • child/infant services by housing estate
