Father Withdrew Maintenance Claim After His Children Changed Their Minds And Made Private Arrangements To Support Him

Mr N, in his 80s, relied on two of his four children for daily expenses, but their contributions were insufficient.

He applied to the Office of the Commissioner for the Maintenance of Parents (CMP) for maintenance from his other two children. CMP reached out to one of the daughters who agreed to rally all her siblings to address their father's claim.

The siblings shared with CMP that they had reduced or stopped contributing to their father's maintenance because they did not approve of his marriage to his present wife.

They eventually agreed to adequately support their father financially, and Mr N withdrew his maintenance claim.
