Home for teen girls healing from abuse officially opens after relocation with expanded services

HCSA Dayspring, a centre for teenage girls healing from trauma and abuse, officially launched its new centre, expanding its capacity to support up to 27 girls. The centre now offers a Small Group Care model, developed by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), with a smaller resident-to-staff ratio. It also provides support for girls with a history of abuse, neglect, and high-risk behaviours. The launch was attended by former President Halimah Yacob and Senior Parliamentary Secretary Eric Chua, who sealed an SG60 time capsule to symbolise hope and the resilience of the girls overcoming trauma.

Koufu staff trained to spot customers who may be victims of domestic abuse

The Let’s Break The Silence Together (LBTST) campaign urges the public to save the National Anti-Violence and Sexual Harassment (NAVH) helpline in their phones as a first step towards collective action against abuse. As part of the initiative, 77 Koufu foodcourt managers have been trained by MSF to identify and report possible cases of domestic violence, and the NAVH number will also be printed on mugs across all 67 Koufu and Happy Hawkers outlets islandwide. At the campaign launch, Minister of State Goh Pei Ming urged more businesses, community partners, and members of the public to play an active role in preventing abuse.

DVERT officers can respond to family violence reports and issue emergency orders at the scene of high-risk domestic abuse cases, addressing immediate safety concerns. This emergency order may include prohibiting the perpetrator from being in the home of and places frequented by the victim, as well as from visiting or contacting the victim.
