Brotherhood programme helps abusive men break cycle of violence

The Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities Brotherhood programme, which helps abusive men break the cycle of violence, has seen an increase in participants amid a rise in spousal violence. The programme, which started in 2019 with 10 men, now has 63 active members and has supported over 100 men. The programme also encourages the men to share their stories in schools to guide youth and reduce the stigma of shame.

Spousal abuse cases rise in Singapore as more willing to report abusive husband or wife

The inaugural Domestic Violence Trends report revealed a 15% rise in spousal abuse cases between 2022 and 2023. The increase was attributed to greater public awareness, reduced stigma, and victims feeling more empowered to seek help, reflecting the Government and community agencies' efforts to raise awareness of domestic violence.
